Chairwoman Karen Camper has served in the Tennessee Legislature in 2008 representing the 87th District. State Rep. Camper is the current Minority (Democratic) Leader of the Tennessee House of Representatives and sits on the House Finance Ways and Means Committee, House Business and Utilities Committee, Ethics Committee, House Rules Committee, and Joint Pensions and Insurance Committee. In addition to being chair of BLLN, Leader Camper is on the board of directors for the State Legislative Leaders Foundation (SLLF) and serves as the current Chair-elect of the National Foundation of Women Legislators (NFWL) and immediate Past-President of the National Organization of Black Elected Legislative Women (NOBEL Women). Before being a Tennessee State Representative, Karen was a Chief Warrant Officer Three of the US Army. She continues to be involved in military affairs by being a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #11333 and a charter member of Women in Military Service for America.
Jasper Hendricks III is the current Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer of BLLN. Farmville, VA native Jasper L. Hendricks III has served as an aide to local, state, and federal elected officials as well as agencies and organizations all over the country. With extensive experience in bringing people to the table in order to work toward solutions, Jasper has been successful in building coalitions across diverse communities in order to build political and community strength through his working relationships with local, state and national groups, elected officials, and other community leaders as well as corporations.
